Rugby star launches Leeds Mencap Grand Prize Draw

Leeds Rhinos half-back Danny McGuire, joint-highest try-scorer in Super League history launched the Leeds Mencap Grand Prize Draw on Friday 7 September in his role as their Ambassador.

It’ll be a busy few weeks for Danny who started his Testimonial Year which will be launched on Wednesday 12 September at the Arc in Headingley, Leeds but that hasn’t stopped him helping out and he asks others to “dig deep for this great charity!”

Leeds Mencap are keeping their Ambassador busy too, he’ll be at their Annual Ball on Saturday 13 October at the Headingley Experience at Leeds Rugby.  To book your ticket, visit www.justgiving.com/LMBall2012, or for more information, email ball@leedsmencap.org.uk.

Those attending the event are encouraged to dig out their dancing shoes, as they will be accompanied for the evening by the Leeds University Union Dance band for this year’s 50s theme.

Funds from the raffle will go towards providing a range of services and activities to improve the lives and opportunities of children and adults with a learning disability along with their families and carers.

For a £1 ticket you have the chance of winning £1,000, a 32” TV or iPad.  Danny will be drawing the winning tickets at Leeds Mencap’s AGM on December 7.  You can buy yours today by calling 0113 2351331.

Danny said: “The Grand Prize Draw will be great for Leeds Mencap and provide not only amazing prizes, but also the chance for the charity to secure some much needed financial support for individuals and families with a learning disability throughout Leeds.  As Ambassador of Leeds Mencap I’ll also be looking forward to the annual Ball – and ask everyone to dig deep for this great charity!”
